I was VERY surprised to know that orcas do not kill humans in the wild. They can actually distinguish the difference between humans and seals and know that humans aren't the type of food they want to eat. They kill humans in captivity because they're forced into this insanity that drives them to kill. Crazy, huh?
While that is all very interesting, (I'm actually very intrigued to watch the documentary now) I'm not here to talk about orcas killing humans. I'm here to talk about how animals can actually go insane while being held in captivity.
A lot of you may know that I have a kitten named Cadence who is around, I'd say 4-5 months old? I completely forget. Does that make me a bad mother? Any who, she goes around the house doing the FUNNIEST/Craziest things! She almost acts like a dog with how excited she gets with things. I personally find it quite hilarious and love it. I actually wish I could place a clip of her weirdness somewhere in here =\
After watching that trailer for the orca movie Lé wondered if Cadence does all the crazy things she does because she's "being held in captivity in a small space" and because she's probably lonely. I didn't think that at all. Cadence is a baby, and just like any other type of baby she gets into mischief and does weird things, really weird things sometimes O.o lol. Cats are also domesticated animals, unlike whales, and have nothing to go insane about (seriously, if you're a cat what do you have to go insane over? You have humans catering to your every need!). I did however, wonder if she was lonely or not considering she had 4 other siblings with her when I first got her. So we came to the decisions to get another cat. I decided that instead of getting another cat off a breeder (or Craigslist again) that I would help out a cat in need...
I want to adopt a cat from a High Kill shelter. I was actually inspired by Bunny (grav3yardgirl) to adopt! I saw her cute new mancat, Boris, and decided that that was the right thing to do. I figured that a high kill shelter is the best place to go considering well, everything about them.
My question to you guys is: what kind of cat should I get? I've always wanted a sphinx but I personally don't think I'll see one at a shelter, considering they're pretty pricy and people who buy them usually keep them. I would love a Maine coon but they're sooo hairy! I'd literally be covered in cat hair 24/7! I'll probably just see while I'm at the shelter, I'm sure it'll be hard not to fall in love with all of the beauties there.
I'm actually hoping that I can get a boy and name him Shining Armor so that Princess Cadence can have her Prince 😍 Haha only a few of you are going to catch that reference 😜
